Welcome to my site! Whether you stumbled here accidentally or on purpose, I hope you find something valuable.
I was born in the Philippines just outside of Manila. Ever since I was young, I always wanted to go out and see the world. When I was in my early 20s, that dream came true and I came to the US on a work visa. I am an IT professional who answered the call when there was a shortage of IT skilled people in the US. I never regretted it.
Even though it was my dream, adjusting to a new country and a new culture was still hard. I missed my family, my friends, the food I was used to, the TV shows I liked. The one thing that helped me and my husband adjust was being with other Filipinos who arrived at the same time to work here as well.
In the first few months of being in the US, we hung out a lot in each other’s homes, did things on the weekends together and cooked our favorite dishes as well as new American dishes we learned to like.
Through this website, I hope to give back and help Filipinos who were in my shoes 20 years ago. I would like you to know that even though it is lonely being away from your birth country, there are things you can do to alleviate that and start enjoying your new life. Food is the best way to do it as we eat every day and it reminds us of growing up and being with our families. It gives us a sense of comfort and familiarity.
My goal is to make your life a little easier and more fun if you are a Filipino living outside the Philippines or if you have friends who are. Or even if you just ike cooking and want to try out different kinds of food.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
