Superbowl is in a week! I want to give you some Filipino/American foods that are great to serve on Superbowl Sunday. The criteria are it has to be delicious and easy to make. You don’t want to be slaving over the kitchen while others are watching pregame shows and getting the party started. Either finger foods or foods that are easy to serve and eat are appropriate. Extra points if there are few cleanups needed after cooking.
Here’s my roundup of best Superbowl food ideas:
Are you even surprised that adobo chicken tops my list? This is the most favorite Filipino food and this version was adapted so that it can be a finger food. Few ingredients are required and you just stick it in the oven. What’s not to like?
2. Purple Cabbage Cole Slaw Salad
Sneak in some vegetables by serving this purple cabbage cole slaw. It is even healthier than the one made with green cabbage. This pairs well with the Oven-Fried Chicken Adobo.
Instead of ordering pizza, you can make this deep-dish pizza pot pie using a skillet. One pizza will probably serve 6 so you can make it ahead and make several if you have to. It is very filling and is even nutritious with the addition of some mushrooms and zucchini.
4. One Pot Chicken Pasta With Feta Cheese
The good thing about this is you only use one pot to cook everything! It is Mediterranean style pasta which makes it unique compared to your usual spaghetti. The inclusion of the feta cheese makes a creamy sauce that is so smacking good.
Here is another popular Filipino dish – pancit bihon. It is easy to make and you can feed a lot of people at a lower cost. It has vegetables and meat so your daily servings are pretty much covered.
You can make these ribs in an Instapot and they will be ready in half an hour or so. The marinade for this makes ribs that are amazingly tasty. You may serve with the mustard greens or just by itself.
7. Homemade New England Clam Chowder Soup
It is everywhere in NorthAmerica and Canada during Superbowl. Soup is always a welcome dish to warm you up while enjoying the game. This soup is easy to make using canned clams and they taste so good.
8. Miswa soup with Pork and Quinoa Meatballs
A Filipino soup with Chinese influences, this soup is yummy and filling and the addition of quinoa with the ground pork to make the meatballs makes it healthier. Make a big batch of this and serve on bowls. Carbs and protein are covered in one dish.
This is Indonesia’s most popular street food salad. It is basically crudites with a spicy peanut sauce. The colors are gorgeous and might be tempting enough to lure meat eaters to try it. The sauce makes everything taste good.
10. Easy Strawberry Lemonade Recipe
With all the good food above, you need to serve drinks as well. Beer is a popular choice but why not serve this strawberry lemonade to give you a boost of Vitamin C? You can even add tequila or rum to make it ‘daddy and mommy’s juice’.
There you go. I hope you find something to make for Superbowl Sunday out of all these choices. I know I will. Enjoy the game whichever team you are rooting for and keep safe!
Cheers!
