If you have every ordered strawberry lemonade at a restaurant, you know it is delicious and refreshing but it does not come cheap. At least $4.00 a glass and you never really know how much lemons, strawberry or sugar they put in it.
I finally became curious enough to make my own. I want to share it with you so you can enjoy homemade strawberry lemonade too. This is a very good during wintertime for an extra boost of antioxidants and Vitamin C.
First, I juiced 5 large lemons. You can juice more or less depending on how much lemonade you want to make. Make sure to strain out the seeds. Then, I made simple syrup out of a cup of water and a cup of sugar. Just put both in a small saucepan and let it boil and simmer while stirring until the sugar has melted.
Why do we need to make simple syrup instead of using the sugar directly? It is because the sugar does not completely dissolve when you mix it with the lemonade. The simple syrup is better and you can adjust the sweetness depending on taste.
Next, I combined the lemon juice, 5 cups of water and half of the simple syrup. Taste and adjust the sweetness. No judgment here, you can use up all the simple syrup in one pitcher if you want.
Wash and cut the tops off some strawberries. I used about four strawberries. Put these in a blender or food processor with a half cup of lemonade. Once blended, add it to the lemonade. I crushed some mint leaves and put it on top and there you go: fresh strawberry lemonade.

What do You Think?
This is something you can make at home and you will love it. You can make a pitcher and store it in the refrigerator and just add ice in a glass when you want a serving. Let it steep a little before serving so that the mint leaves will infuse into the mixture.
