Most of these things I have used myself and I can attest to their usefulness. I have limited counter top space so I assure you, it if it is on my counter, it must be bringing value.

1. Sous vide (pronounced soo – veed )
Sous-vide is a method of cooking in which food is placed in a plastic pouch or a glass jar and cooked in a water bath or steam environment for longer than normal cooking times at a very accurate and regulated temperature. In French, the term translates to ‘under vacuum’.
There is no contact with flame or hot coals or steam. This means that you will always a consistent result of perfectly cooked protein. However, to get the crispy texture or charred look on the outside, the meat or fish is grilled or seared for a minute or so in a very hot skillet. Since the inside is already cooked, the searing part is done very quickly.
I gave a sous vide to my son for his birthday and since then he has made delicious steaks, pork chops that are perfectly cooked the way we want it. He would set it up on Saturday afternoons and watch a movie on Netflix. By dinner time, he sears the meat on a very hot skillet and dinner is ready.
Here are some pictures of what we have made with it. Pork chops, ribeyes, prime rib. Yum.
I look forward to many more uses of this gadget. At around $100, this item is reasonably priced. If you can cook a perfect steak at home, you may never have to go to an expensive steak restaurant again!

2. Delonghi Magnifico
We are regular coffee drinkers. As the years passed, we leaned towards better and better coffee. First, it was instant coffee (I kid you not). Then drip coffee. Then Keurig and Nespresso. Nespresso was better tasting than Keurig but we got tired of buying pods for it. We finally splurged and got an espresso machine. It was a very wise purchase and we never go to Starbucks anymore. Coffee we make at home is better. This is what I am talking about.
At over $500, this machine is not cheap. But it is so worth it if you regularly drink good coffee. This is a review I wrote about this: DeLonghi Magnifica Review
Here is where you can get the machine:
About half of the dishes I cook, I use an Instapot, I love this invention. It is a pressure cooker that is not life-threatening to use. It works so much faster than a slow cooker, a lot versatile than a rice cooker. You can saute in it and make soups, pulled pork, chili, rice, yogurt, cakes, bone broth, chicken stock, stew. The list is endless and you can generally make a delicious meal in less than an hour.
Here is a review I wrote about it: Instapot Review

4. Air Fryer
The only reason I do not have an air fryer is I do not have counter space for it. I need to get rid of something before I can get one. I have heard wonderful things about it, mainly enjoying the taste of fried food without deep frying. Sounds healthy and indulgent at the same time. I am already planning the things I will make on it: chicken wings, Filipino egg rolls, sweet potato fries.
For around $80, you can get one here: BUY AIR FRYER HERE
5. Magic Trio Peeler
You’ve seen this in commercials or online ads. It’s for real. This more of a stocking stuffer type of gift but sooooo useful and fun to use. It is a potato peeler, shredder, slicer or fruits and vegetables. You can julienne like a chef. Priced under $10, you can buy one for each person you know who cooks.
6. Smokeless Indoor Grill
Summer is over and I bet you are not motivated to go outdoors to grill. You can still enjoy the taste of grilled food with this indoor grill. This link is for a very good brand with good reviews but there are cheaper alternatives too which will be suggested to you when you click the link.
7. Silicone Mats
These silicone mats are perfect for the person who likes to bake. It even has templates for macarons. The great thing about these is they are non-stick and conduct heat evenly. You do not have to grease the pan, just place these mats on top of the baking sheet. They are easy to clean, either by hand-washing or placing at the top of the dishwasher.
8. If you have not been living in a cave the past few years, you know about the vegetable spiralizer craze. There is a healthy trend to use spiralized vegetables in place of pasta so that carb-averse people can still enjoy their pasta dishes.
For this, you need a great spiralizer that will not break the bank. You can also use this to garnish your plates or for salads and potato fries. At less than $30, this is one wise gift idea. You will feel better knowing that it will lead to healthier meals.
I will be adding to this list in the next few days. Meanwhile, review the gift guide I have made above as I am sure you will find something for somebody on your list. You can never be too early buying gifts, the holidays are just around the corner!
